I’m excited to announce the first Quilt Fort Co. Quilt Along! We will be sewing along together the Finger Paints pattern from August 30 – October 15, 2021. This is a casual QAL and is meant to provide connection and motivation for you to stitch up your Finger Paints quilt top. Most of the reminders and prompts will happen over on Instagram; make sure you are following @quiltfortco to get the most up to date reminders for the QAL. On occasion I will post a blog post to encourage your sewing during the quilt along.
The Finger Paints pattern is your road map to color placement along with instructions for cutting and sewing your blocks together. This pattern is beginner friendly and the end result is complex enough for any skilled quilter. The pattern includes color recommendations for 3 solids manufacturers and identifies the colors used on the Ruby Star Society Speckled cover quilt.
Rules
There’s not a lot of rulers because this is a casual QAL. Here are the rules:
- No sign up required.
- Make weekly Instagram posts on a public account by each end of week Friday at 11:59pm with #FingerPaintsQAL and #quiltfortpatterns to be eligible for weekly prizes.
- Participant must post weekly and up to date to be eligible for the grand prize.

Schedule
Here is the schedule:
- Week 1 (Aug 30-Sept 3): Select & cut fabric
- Week 2 (Sept 6 – 10): blocks 1 + 2
- Week 3 (Sept 13 – 17): blocks 3 + 4
- Week 4 (Sept 20 – 24): blocks 5 + 6
- Week 5 (Sept 27 – Oct 1): blocks 7 + 8
- Week 6 (Oct 4 – 8): block 9 + catch up
- Week 7 (Oct 11 – 15): quilt top assembly
How to participate
You’ll need the Finger Paints pattern and your fabric by the first week of the QAL. In addition, you’ll need all the basic sewing supplies you use to complete a quilt top. Planning on participating?
