No, the expert curve knowledge does not come from me. Instead, I will defer to the actual expert, Daisy Aschehoug. I am pleased to call Daisy a friend and I am so excited to share her book, Quilting with Curves.
The first time I met Daisy we were standing in line at Starbucks during QuiltCon. Admittedly, I had a tiny fan-girl moment and couldn’t believe she was chatting with me. Daisy is kind and knowledgeable and I have admired her quilts for years.
If you have ever been curious about sewing with quarter circles, a.k.a. Drunkard’s Path units, then this is the book for you. Daisy provides 20 amazing patterns that utilize the classic quilting shape of the quarter circle. Not only does the book included the patterns, Daisy gives all her tips and tricks for sewing quarter circles.
For those who already incorporate quarter circles into their work, this book does not disappoint with new and inventive ways to use this quilty-classic in contemporary, transitional, and minimalist modern quilt patterns.
I love a good block-based quilt pattern like Curved Double Star or Ginkgo Fans. These patterns use the quarter circle to create such interesting final compositions. I also can’t argue against Daisy’s beautiful alternative gridwork in Plaid Punch.
You will read this book for the expert advice on sewing curves and you will stay for the tips Daisy provides on using your fabric stash, working with templates, basting, and sewing quarter circles.
