After I made my green and low volume version of this pattern I knew I wanted to make a version where each block was unique and made with different fabrics. I included instructions for this version in the pattern because I think it’s a great stash busting pattern that way. Between each block is a contrasting sashing. The cornerstones and dots within the blocks are consistent throughout which brings the entire quilt together even with different background and accent fabrics in every block.

For my version I decided to go with a more “wintry” palette, in contrast to the super Christmas-y version I made first. The fabrics I ended up with were slightly different than my original pull. Because some of my accent fabrics are directional, I wrote a blog post about how to cut directional accent fabrics for this block.

Most of the fabrics I used are still available, but some of them I pulled from the depths of my stash.

I quilted this with a simple on point plaid. I started by quilting a 2″ grid with alternating teal, red, and white thread. Then I added in several additional lines to make the plaid look with pink and aqua thread. It’s pretty basic quilting but with all the printed fabrics I didn’t want the quilting to be distracting.

I took my finished quilt to the mountains for photos during our family Christmas tree cutting trip. It was a beautiful, peaceful, snow covered day and a perfect setting for the photos. I can’t wait to see how you make this quilt! Don’t forget to share on Instagram with #quiltfortpatterns and #cozynightsquilt.
