I know not everyone likes that crazy, scrappy look to their quilts. I wanted to make sure that the Embers Quilt could be made with a consistent background, unlike the scrappy background found in my teal version. This version requires only 9 fat quarters (or 5 for the baby size) plus the background yardage.
I’ve provided instructions for cutting efficiently from yardage so you won’t waste any fabric.
For my version, I chose some fun prints for the FQs and a solid, Kona Dove, for the background.
I prefer to make my small blocks first for this pattern. They stitch up quick and then I feel like I can take my time on the larger blocks that have multiple fabrics in them.
I chose a fast and easy edge to edge, straight line quilting pattern. I like how it turned out and it was pretty simple to quilt. Because the blocks create a grid, I was able to mark and quilt the entire throw size in just a day!
I always refer to this quilt as the purple Embers Quilt, even though it’s not crazy purple. I used a purple quilting thread and I finished it off with purple binding.
If you are looking for a quick sew and a unique block composition, this is the quilt pattern for you!
